Good morning, Heritage of Faith family. Welcome to Sunday morning service live streaming. It is wonderful to have you with me and I am looking forward to ministering my series, that I spoke to you about that the Lord said He wanted me to minister this year every time Pastor John asked me to minister.
Our scripture in Hebrews 10:19, 19Having, therefore, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. (Hebrews 10:19, KJV) The title of my message today is; Bold In A Time Of Need. So it is Part 3 of Having Therefore Boldness series. But the message today is; Bold In A Time Of Need.
Let’s just pray. Father, thank You, for this wonderful time that we are going to spend together in Your Word, in Scripture. We, thank You, Holy Spirit, that You minister to each and every one of our hearts, the comfort of the Scriptures, is strengthened by Scripture. Every Scripture is God-breathed. Thank You for breathing, Your Scriptures in us, Holy Spirit. Thank You, for giving me utterance today and speaking clearly and plainly and powerfully through this vessel of clay, that Jesus may be glorified. Amen.
Our key scripture that I have been using is Hebrews, chapter 10:19-23. This is what the King James says, 19Having, therefore, boldness, to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. 20By a new and living way which He consecrated for us through the veil of His flesh. Let us draw near. So, 19Having, therefore, boldness, to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, … 22 Let us draw near, into the Holiest, with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, (Heb 10:19-22, KJV) because remember, part one, I shared with you, you have got to deal with that conscience. Because he wants you to walk around with the conscience, that you always feel condemned and you always feel accused. Remember, I taught you quite, powerfully that you overcome that conscience, that accusation when it comes to you, you say, “The Blood of Jesus, the Blood of Jesus.”
Especially the accusations that the devil brings to you, that have got grounds, you have to deal with them, because in private you and the Lord have dealt with it. Now you don’t receive accusations from the enemy anymore. The way you deal with it, when you’ve missed it, is 1 John 1:9, you acknowledge your sin. You acknowledge it to your Father and, 9He is Faithful and just to forgive you and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9, AMP). He will do that for you seventy times seven, a day.
It’s a very different process that you have with the Father, of acknowledging and confessing your sin and being forgiven and receiving that forgiveness and that cleansing, to the accusations of Satan. A very different experience. The one is heavenly, the one is cleansing, the one is intimate and precious and personal and powerful when you’re with Him and you’re acknowledging it and He’s cleansing you and sometimes there is even weeping. There doesn’t have to be, but it’s a personal experience you are having with the Father, in your intimacy with Him. You are acknowledging it to Him.
He’s Faithful and just because of the Blood, to cleanse. It’s like a cleansing and I likened it to when I would discipline my children. When I had given them an instruction and then they disobeyed the instruction and then I would discipline them and explain to them, “This is why you’re receiving discipline.” Now there’s going to be pain and then, when it was over and they were like, “Sorry Mom, sorry.” Then we would hug and hug and it’s done. It’s how it is with Father God. “Lord forgive me, I understand what I did here.” And it’s like, it’s a real intimate, real living experience with the Living God.
What it says here, it says. 22Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience … (Hebrews 10:22, AMP). Why? Because you’re personal with God, when your conscience is condemning you …. and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our Faith without wavering; (for he is Faithful that promised;) (Hebrews 10:22-23, KJV) That’s our key scripture that I’m going to be using throughout the series that I’m teaching this year.
I want to take you to another scripture this morning, because remember the title of our message is Bold In A Time Of Need. In the New Living Translation Hebrews, 4:16 says this 16So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. (Hebrews 4:16, NLT)
There again boldly, boldly drawing near to get help. The Passion’s translation says 16 So now, … because of the blood was shed, because we have boldness to enter into the very holiest to fellowship with God 16 So now we come freely and boldly to where love is enthroned to receive mercy’s kiss and discover the grace we urgently need to strengthen us in our time of weakness/need. (Hebrews 10:16, TPT)
That is what we all are needing, right now.. We are needing help from the Holy Spirit and from the Lord, but we have to do it with boldness, that’s what God is wanting to make very clear to you and to me. He wants us being bold in this time, when there is threat. Threat that may touch every part of our lives.
The Amplified says this 16 Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favour to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]. (Hebrews 4:16, AMPC) This is just the way to live life. You don’t stop living this kind of life, you don’t just live this kind of life when things are going all well. You live this life of boldness coming to God for help, you live it in time of trouble, as well.
Hebrews 13 verse 6, says this 6So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, we say boldly, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm, this is the Amplified Bible, I will not be seized with alarm, [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me? (Heb 13:6 AMPC) What can any threat do to me? If God is for us who can be against us? What threat can be against us, even if it is in the form of an unseen enemy? We take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not be seized with alarm. I will not fear or dread or be terrified.”
I was just sharing with somebody, I think it was last week, I said, “Fear is a choice, as much as Faith is a choice.” It just is a choice. Like Pastor Johns being ministering, We have not been given a spirit of fear, that spirit of fear is recognizable. You can recognize it. When it wants to grip your heart and panic starts to set in and dread and it starts to overflow into your thought life, because it comes from bombardments into the mind. Then it goes into your emotions and then it’s intended by the spirit of fear, the spirit realm of darkness, that fear, he really wants it to come out of your mouth. He wants you to just speak it, because he knows what a powerful speaking spirit, God has created us to be, in His image and in His likeness.
That is the ultimate outcome, that Satan, with a spirit of fear, coming at you, wants you to actually do, that’s his trump card. Let me bombard her mind, let me bombard his mind with lies, things contrary to God’s promises and God’s Word, see if she will take it, he will take it, because he knows how our soul works, from the mind, into the emotions, the heart, and then out the mouth.
What? What, what, what? How many times has Pastor John not taught us not to speak, your emotion? I remember, a few years ago, Kenneth Copeland speaking about the Power of First Words. When you first get a bad report, you first get it. What is the first thing that comes out of your mouth?
That coming out of your mouth, because you already let it come into you. Out of the abundance of your heart, your mouth speaks. Whatever you have been meditating on, if you have been meditating on the enemy’s lies, and you’ve let it come into your heart; it’s going to come out and then that is where he has got you. He has got you, because life and death are in the power of a tongue of any human being, created in God’s image.
Kenneth Copeland was ministering on the Power of First Words. Especially when you are under pressure. In fact, he actually used an example of a family that had, had a car accident. The husband was really fine, and it looked as if the children and the wife were really in a bad way; just because I believe there were some head wounds, and so you know there is always a lot of blood from a head wound, that is not necessarily as bad as it looks.
This man started to absolutely get into such terror and fear, and all he could say was, “Oh my God, I’m going to die, I’m going to die and I’m going to die, and I’m going to die,” and he couldn’t stop saying it. We are going to die, we are all going to die. He died, and his family lived, and he actually didn’t even have anything wrong with him.
He was using an example too, of what they always hear on that black box, when an aeroplane goes down, “Oh my god, we are going to die, we are going to die.” He was just saying, what would actually happen if your first words were, “Jesus, Jesus, I will live and not die, I will live and not die. “
Precious Heritage Of Faith people, we cannot play around with words. You can’t dismiss the principle, that we are created in His image, the pattern. You can’t dismiss the fact that we’ve been created in His image, and that life and death are in the power of our words. I think the reason we don’t sometimes take it seriously, is because actually, we have sometimes spoken such a lot of nonsense that hasn’t immediately come to pass. So,we don’t really believe it, but I believe the Word of God, that life and death are in the power of the tongue, especially in this time. God wants us to, every day, He wants us to watch our words, every day.
Let me just see where I was going here with this. Hmm, so Hebrews 13:6, 6So we take comfort encouraged and we confidently and boldly say, the Lord is my helper, I will not be seized with alarm. I will not fear or dread”. (Hebrews 13:6, AMPC) Can you see the choice of this person, “I will not!” It is a choice, and then there is the other choice, “Oh, my God, we are all going to die.” Choice. It is a power of choice.
We are powerful spirit beings people, and it is good news to me, actually to know that I have the power of choice to choose Faith. It really is. I mean it is awesome for me, to know that I’m such a creature of choice, that I can choose Faith. I can actually choose to believe God’s Word. There is a scripture that I’m thinking of now, in a situation with some of God’s people in the Old Testament on, “Whose report, will you believe?” We will believe the report of the Lord. Choice. Glory to God. Glory to God. So, this is good news ,that Faith is a choice, just as fear is a choice. Another thing that the Lord has been sharing with me is that, fear is a force, it is a force and it will attract, as Faith is a force and it will create and attract.
Fear is a force. Job, in Job 3:25. When he started to open his mouth he said this, “25For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.” (Job 3:25, KJV). The Message Bible says here, this is Job 3:25 and 26. The Message Bible says, 25The worst of my fears has come true, what I’ve dreaded most has happened.” (Job 3:25, MSG) See fear is a force, it will attract to your life. He says here, let me read it again. “25The worst of my fears has come true, what I’ve dreaded most has happened.”
Job was actually having a very honest moment here. He was saying, all this calamity that’s happened to me, all this death that’s come, all this loss that’s come, it’s because I feared it first. “Most greatly I feared it”, that’s what he’s saying here. The thing which I greatly feared is come upon me. He knew that the things that had come upon him, he had feared, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.” Again the Message, “The worst of my fears has come true, what I’ve dreaded most.” Choice, I’ve dreaded, I feared, I dreaded, I feared. I didn’t faith, I didn’t believe God’s Word and His covenant. Even in the Old Testament, they had a covenant with God. They knew God. They knew the goodness of God. They knew the powerful force of the love of God.
He says here, “26My repose is shattered, my peace destroyed. No rest for me, ever – death has invaded life.” (Job 3:26, MSG) The force of fear – fear is a force, it’s a point that God wanted to make to me; Sharon fear is a force, and Faith and Love is a force.
Let me just have a look here, I want to just read to you here. The power of first words. The power of first words in a time of trouble. I want to just read to you some scriptures here what David did in a time of great trouble. He would say, something. In a time of great trouble, he would say, something. He had trouble, his life was under threat. I mean, he had some real life-threatening situations in his life. Ok, so Psalm 3, this is a Psalm of David when he fled from his son Absalom who was plotting to kill him. So boldness in a time of trouble, look how bold David was.
1Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! Many are they that rise up against me. 2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. 3 But You, Lord, are a shield for me, that’s what he said. You, Lord, are a shield for me. You are my glory and the lifter up of mine head. 4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about (Psalm 3:1-2, KJV). I will not be afraid, he said, “I will not be afraid.” Choice, very different to, “I am afraid. I greatly fear,” like Job said, “What I greatly feared has happened to me.” David in a life-threatening situation said, “I will not, I will not, I will not fear.”
You will find that when that spirit of fear wants to get a hold of you. Sometimes that fear can even make your body tremble, your heart pound, like a sweat break out. Even in a time like that, if you will resist him boldly with the Word of God and speak like David spoke. David said, “I will not be afraid. You, oh Lord, are my Glory. You are my Shield. You are the lifter up of my head, I’m not going to let my head hang. You’re the lifter up of my head. You will see how weak fear really is. You will only discover that when you’ve chosen to not yield to that fear in a moment of fear. Glory to God.
So, great danger. Let me read to you what He said here in Psalms 18, what He said. The force of Faith versus the force of fear. Psalms 18 He said this, 6 In my distress, in my time of trouble, I called upon the Lord and cried unto my God; He heard my voice out of his temple,(Psalm 18:6, KJV) He heard my voice out of His temple. Why? Because David knows his God, he knows that when he calls out to God, in the time of trouble, God hears, God listens. So, he is bold in a time of trouble. I called out to God and He heard me. David is writing this Psalm right. It says here; he heard my voice out of his temple, He heard my voice. And my cry came before him, even into his ears. (Psalm 18:6-10, KJV)
Your sound, child of God and your voice that voice recognition; God knows your voice, He recognizes your voice, even though He has millions of children, your voice, your cry comes into His ears. Your cry of Faith. Lord, help! It’s like that Psalms 118 that Pastor John brought to us recently. Save now, Lord! Send now prosperity! Give now to us success! Give now salvation! That is bold in a time of trouble.
Listen to the effects of this, 6 … and my cry came before him, even into his ears. There is one translation that says even into His very ears. 7 Then the earth shook and trembled; … Because He was wroth. He was wroth, He is angry at what is happening to His very own son, 8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, This is just a most wonderful Psalm, Psalm 18 and fire out of his mouth devoured: …9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: 10 And he rode upon a cherub, and it says, 13 The Lord also thundered in the heavens, Verse 13, and the Highest gave His voice; (Psalm 18:6-13, KJV)
Here is David giving voice, his voice, his cry to God: “God help!” and God responds with His voice, awesome. 13 …. So, the Highest gave His voice, 14 He sent out His arrows, …; He shot out lightnings, and then he said 16 He sent from above, and He took mem and He drew me out of many waters. 17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. (Psalm 18:13-17 KJV)
There are circumstances, in which you find yourself, at times, in you, in your own strength, they are overwhelming. They would overwhelm you, if you chose the force of fear. To fear that which was coming at you, that you would fear it so greatly that it would come upon you. Then there is that which David did, in the face of fear. You see he learnt that, he learned to do that, he learned to do that with Goliath, he faced fear: “I come to you in the Name of the Lord, Goliath”.
He learned it at Ziglag, when he arrived home with his five hundred men, before he was even made king. All the wives and children were gone – you want to talk about an opportunity, for a spirit of fear to get a hold of you. When your wives and your children are gone, and a horde of renegades have taken them, the enemy has taken them? They lifted up their voice and they wept, and the men wanted to stone David, but he, the Word of God says, he strengthened himself in the Lord. How did he do it?
Like he always did, he said and he spoke: “I call upon the Lord, and He hears my voice out of His temple, and my cry comes even into His very ears, so it says here. He came, 18 …. the Lord was my stay? 19 He brought me forth into a large place; He delivered me, because He delighted in me. (Psalms 18:18-19 KJV) What was that delighting, so delighting about the sound of David’s voice? Delighted God, so that He came down and drew him out of the many waters. God delights when we have that cry of Faith that believes and trusts in Him as our Father, and we are His child, and He is our Father and we know that He hears us. Joh!
This is very powerful, Heritage of Faith people. Boldness, in a time of trouble in a time of need. Come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain help in time of need, well-timed help coming just when we need it, just like for David. Then he carries on and on in Psalm 18 and he says: “29By You I run through a troop, By my God I leap over a wall. 33 He makes my feet like hinds’ feet, he sets me upon my high places He teaches my hands to war so that a bow of Steel is broken by my arms. I pursued my enemies and I overtook them. Neither did I turn back until they were consumed. You girded me with strength in the battle You subdued under me those that rose up against me You’ve given me the neck of my enemies” (Psalm 18: 29, 33-39, AMPC).
People, I think it’s Exodus 15:3, where it says: The Lord He is a man of war, if the Lord is a man of war and we created in His likeness guess what? We are people of war and we war, we fight the good fight of Faith to win it, to win it. So, he says here 46 46 The Lord lives.” He finishes off here in Psalm 18, 46The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted, 47 …. He subdues the people under me, 48 He delivers me from my enemies. You lift me up above those that rise up against me; You have delivered me from the violent men. 50Great deliverance does He give to His king. He was saying a great deliverance does God give to him, David … and shows mercy to His anointed, to David and his seed.”(Psalm 18:46-50, KJV)
I’m going to finish off with this scripture Psalm 56. See the power of these Psalms is not so much in what was written, but when he wrote them. What the circumstances he found himself in. So here’s, just see here.
Here’s a Psalm of David again, another one, “Unto thee will I cry, O Lord, my rock. The Lord is my strength”. Then he says, 6 Blessed be the Lord, He’s heard the voice of my supplications, 7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him. My help, my heart greatly rejoices and with my song will I praise Him.” (Psalms28:1,6-7, KJV) Isn’t that amazing?
Talking about the force of fear, like Job had, and the force of Faith like David. This is my last one, Psalm 56. Are you getting something out of this? I’m sure you are, because this ministered to me when the Lord gave it to me. I will praise His Word, Psalm 56, 4 … in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. (Psalm 56:4 KJV). 9When I cry, then shall my enemies turn back, this I know…, this I know, …for God is for me (Psalm 56:9 KJV). See, he knows it; he knows it. 11I will not be afraid of what man can do to me (Psalm 56:11 KJV). I will not be afraid.
13For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living? (Psalm 56:13 KJV). Oh, here we go. “What time I am afraid”, he says in verse 3, 3What time I am afraid, I will trust in Him (Psalm 56:3 KJV). He’s not saying he’s never afraid, but he’s saying what time I am afraid. At the time I’m afraid, I will trust in Him.
I’m going to pray for you, pray for us. We’ve been doing prayer connect, it’s been so wonderful. I’m going to pray for you, and I will continue this possibly next Sunday.
