MESSAGE HIGHLIGHT:

Search and Switch – Ps John Bendixen (JHB)

Scripture Reference: Psalm 77:6 (NKJV); Psalm 139:23-24 (NKJV); Ecclesiastes 1:12-18 (NKJV); Ecclesiastes 2:1-11 (NKJV); Jeremiah 17:5-10 (NKJV)

Less credit for myself: God is so good. The more I praise, thank and give Him honour, glory and praise Him for what’s happening in my life, the more I want to do that, the less I want to take credit for doing it myself – that’s a very good place to be.

This message: “I began to see something in the Spirit and I began to realise that actually, as I saw this in the Spirit, the Lord wanted me to minister it to you and there’s, when I started to get into it and I started to study it out, I realised how impactful and how widespread this is in everybody’s life”.

Dictionary definition of this message:

Search:      Try and find something by looking or seeking carefully and thoroughly;

– Examine thoroughly in order to find something or someone.

Research: – Research is the systematic investigation into, and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions.

Search for God: I do not research God, He is a person that I have an experience with. [Psalms 77:6], I meditate within my heart, and my spirit makes diligent search. [Psalm 139:23-24 NKJV], When I was born God placed in me an instinct to search.

Damaging statements: One of the most damaging statement is “I’m just going to go ahead and I’m not going to ask for permission, I’ll ask for forgiveness later”. That means, I’m going to search this out and do what I want to do regardless of the consequences. I’ll ask for forgiveness and then see what those consequences turn out to be.

Solve problems: Like Solomon, the conversations that I have are those where I solve problems. I already know the answer, see all parts of it and more. This is quite significant for me as a spirit being because I can have all of this in the Holy Spirit. [Ecclesiastes 1:12-13 NKJV]. The reason I’m on the earth is to solve problems of all things – all matters that are under the heaven. God has given me these things to solve so that I can be exercised in problem-solving. I no longer run away from problems, God designed me to solve them. God sent Jesus to solve a problem so that I can become a problem solvers again. I’m a proper problem solver on the earth, not one that just solves problems here and there. Needing money to pay for rent is not a problem, it’s a faith thing.

Search engine – Holy Spirit: In our modern day world with Google and many search engines, the only search engine that I can rely on is the one that the Holy Spirit places inside of me. If I live my life with a Google search engine then I can only do research, but if I want to search for God then I’ve got to search Him with my heart, not with my phone or computer. I cannot experience Him that way.

Prosperity: If my prosperity has brought about a lifestyle that is about my choices and so I no longer do what God wants me to do, but I do what my choices give me options to do, then my prosperity has ruined me. Like Pastor John and Pastor Sharon, I pursue prosperity and I keep my heart straight by continuing to give money away and let my increase be my seed. Then I will find that I live in a more properly orchestrated environment.

Fear God and live: God has given me an internal search engine designed from when I was born to start causing me to search for and hunger for the things of God. It’s not to search and hunger after a solution that will keep poverty away from me, keep me; on the right achievement path; keep my status or cause me to have a status in society. God didn’t design me to live such a mediocre life. Those are things that the society around us thinks are important. Those things are not important. What’s important is to fear God and live. It doesn’t matter how much I can figure things out, how many problems I can solve, what I think about anything and everything, at the end of it there is only one thing that matters; to fear God and live. Every other purpose under the sun is actually going to become nothing in the end if it’s not because I fear God and live.

Trust God: If I put my trust in a person, they’re going to let me down. (Even if it’s a kid with a parent) because in humans, there is weakness. The good news is, I can put my trust in God and He will never let me down. When I start putting my trust in men it’s because I’ve already deviated from where my trust should be – in God. When I put my trust in God, I realise that God becomes the sole Source of everything that I need in my life and whatever relationships I have besides God can flourish and grow through Him. I trust God, and then my ‘search o’meter’ will always guide me to the right place where I can see what men are all about and then God will help me with those relationships. My trust is in God, that in the strength of God everything can be resolved because I trust Him. [Jeremiah 17:5 NKJV], If I make myself my own strength and my heart departs from God, that scripture says I’m cursed and not blessed.Trusting in man: [Jeremiah 17:6 NKJV], If I trust in men, I will not even be able to identify goodness that is in my life. If I can’t understand and identify goodness, then everything in my life is like a desert because I can’t see anything good around me. Then my whole life is about living a life of caution, disappointment and carefulness because I never know when men are going to hurt me.

God is the standard: [Jeremiah 17:7-10 NKJV], God is the standard of life and if I do anything and everything in life that is not about God then God’s life, the fruitfulness, all of the joy and the stuff that I can have in God is ultimately going to test me. In Him I have all fruitfulness, even when there is drought; difficulty and trouble everywhere because I’m like a tree that’s planted by the rivers, even when it is in drought my roots go so deep into the water below the surface that I can access water that other trees can’t. And so even though there’s a great heat, great drought, my deep roots have been planted by rivers, that go so deep that I even bring fruit in drought, when there’s severe heat I’m fruitful; that’s the way God wants me to live.

Search and switch: I search and switch. I search my heart, meditate in my heart about where my ways are with God and when I’ve discovered where my heart is, I’m like Solomon – I go there, I’m honest first. Honesty is where I have to start. I search my heart and allow the Holy Spirit to help me, “Lord, where is there a part of my life that I need to bring into God’s order, so that I can have fruitfulness there, so that my roots can grow deep down into the waters of living water that are maybe even below surface, that are not obvious where they are but my roots find them there.”  I don’t trust in men; I don’t trust in intellects of everything that’s going on around me. Thoughts do not know how to solve problems.

I’m staying in South Africa: Like Pastor John, I didn’t need a movement to tell me I’m staying. I’m staying here because my trust is not in men, my trust is in God. And here where I am in fruitfulness, this is where God requires me to be fruitful. God uses the fruitful, faithful people to sort out the circumstances. God needs fruitful people that put their trust in Him and not in man.

Search and prepared to switch: [Jeremiah 17:10 NKJV], I need to search, keep searching and then I need to be in a place where I’m prepared to switch. The search engine of my heart that God works within me, I allow Him to work with my search engine, there is dramatic change, dramatic things happen in my life, in my search and switch. I just make a decision, I’m going to switch to the ways of God; to meditating in my heart with God, to having conversations with God, rather than with men and having what men’s opinions are. I can search and switch.

Search and switch prayer:  “Lord Jesus, I am in need of You in my life. And where I have placed my trust in myself, and where I have placed my trust in man, I ask You to forgive me for that right now. And I also ask You, Lord, to forgive me for any twisted way in my life. And I ask You, Lord, to rule and reign in my heart, as my Lord and Saviour. And I thank You Lord that Your wisdom, Your understanding will become my portion. I ask You, Father, for the leading and the guiding and the real presence of the Holy Spirit in my life, and I receive it now by faith in Jesus’ name. Amen”.
